Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to build on their recent win over Newcastle United when they face Nottingham Forest on Friday evening.
The Lilywhites had gone five matches without a victory prior to their 4-1 victory over the Magpies last Sunday.
Manager Ange Postecoglou will be keen to see his side – who sat top of the Premier League table after ten games – build on the result with another win against the Blades.
In the meantime, it appears that Spurs are hoping to agree a huge new deal with one of their most important players.
According to Football Insider, the North London club are hoping to agree a long-term contract extension with captain Son Heung-min.
The report claims that the South Korea international is keen to commit the rest of his playing career to Tottenham, and will therefore sign an extension once an agreement has been reached.
Son, 31, joined Spurs from German side Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015, and has since made a total of 389 appearances for the club across all competitions.
In that time the forward has scored 155 goals and provided 84 assists, establishing himself as one of the most talented attacking players in the Premier League.
So far this season he has scored ten goals in 16 Premier League games, as well as providing four assists.
The South Korean’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, but Spurs will soon activate a 12-month extension clause in the current deal.
The club will then begin talks over an extension with Son, who has stepped up to become Spurs’ primary attacking threat since the departure of record goal scorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich over the summer.
If an agreement can be reached, Son is likely to be rewarded with a significant pay rise in accordance with his increased value to Postecoglou’s side.
