Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert is keeping his All-Star snub in his back pocket.
The NBA All-Stars were announced Thursday and the Timberwolves had two representatives, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards. This means that Gobert was left off the roster, and he had quite the response for Towns when the former reached out to him.

“You don’t have to feel bad,” Gobert told Towns, per Dane Moore of The Dane Moore NBA Podcast. “At my Hall of Fame speech, I’ll be able to joke about how many times I got to enjoy some extra vacation because I got snubbed for the All Star game.”
Gobert is averaging 13.6 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks across 48 games in 2023-24. His strong play has been crucial in the Timberwolves 34-15 start that has the team looking like true contenders in the Western Conference.
Towns and Edwards have been instrumental in that start as well, and the two selections to the team ties the Timberwolves with the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks as the teams with the most players on the All-Star roster.
Gobert is a three-time All-Star in his career, so his resume will have that distinction, but his play and the Timberwolves success surely could have warranted another nomination. Instead, Gobert will have the opportunity to get some rest during the All-Star break and be ready for the remainder of the season.
