Actor and former NFL player Terry Crews has cleared up the speculation about him potentially squaring off with Anderson Silva in a boxing match.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Crews explained he “never said” he was fighting Silva but will be in attendance for the mixed martial arts legend’s bout against Chael Sonnen.
“I never said that,” he said. “It was just the attitude. That’s all it was.”
The confusion stemmed from a May 18 Instagram video Crews posted in which he said he had been training and would “see you at fight night in Brazil” in June 15.

In a post on his Instagram Stories, Silva showed footage of himself training accompanied by pictures of Crews promoting the new season of America’s Got Talent.
Spaten Fight Night promotion announced on May 19 that Silva and Sonnen would square off in the boxing ring on June 15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Anderson and Sonnen had one of the most iconic fights in UFC history in 2010. The Spider had been an unstoppable force with 12 straight wins, including six successful defenses of the middleweight title, leading up to the bout.
Sonnen controlled the fight for the first four rounds and would have won on points, but he remained aggressive in the final round. Silva found an opening to lock in a triangle choke for the submission win with less than two minutes remaining.
The two men squared off in a rematch for the middleweight crown two years later that Silva won via second-round TKO.
Crews, 55, has no previous experience in combat sports. He appeared in 32 NFL games between 1991 and ’95, recording three combined tackles.
