“The Greasy Hair Really Helped Me Stay Balanced” – Sean O’Malley on Marlon Chito Vera’s Allegations
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Current bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is climbing the ladder of success at a brisk rate. His performance at UFC 299 against Marlon Vera proved he is one of the best. However, his opponent ‘Chito’ doesn’t quite agree with this fact. He recently took his X (formerly Twitter) account and tweeted about his greasy hair, which affected his performance.

‘Suga’ recently appeared on the Michael Bisping podcast to discuss his fight. During the conversation, he cleared all the air around Vera’s claims. He also shared some words of advice for his rival. Let us find out what the 27-year-old had to say.

Sean O’Malley is one of the best fighters in the bantamweight division. Not only does he have good striking ability, but also has a good understanding of his opponents. His performance at UFC 299 gave the fans a glimpse of his versatility as he defended his title for the first time. However, his opponent tried to take away the credit with his recent X(formerly Twitter) post. ‘Suga’, while speaking to Bisping, mocked the claims with his answers.

Bisping asked the former champion about his performance, to which he replied, “Yeah, the greasy hair really helped me just stay balanced and really helped me pinpoint my shot.” He further added, “Just in case you never know, man. Yeah, that was a weird one. I feel like I mean even in the pictures or the video you watch, I feel like you can see if someone’s hair is greasy. It’s pretty visual . You know, my hair was as beautiful as ever and I thought that was a weird one. I feel bad for the guy. I’m like just say I got my a.. kicked. You get more fans. He’s losing fans per minute.”

The pair had a bit of history between them, as Vera was the first one to hand the champion his first UFC defeat. However, now the scores are finally settled after the 29-year-old won the battle despite his opponent’s claims. O’Malley’s coach also seemed quite confused with the claims and shared his opinion on the whole situation.

Tim Welsh shares his verdict on Marlon Vera’s claims

Marlon Vera showed great character and grit in his fight against Sean O’Malley. He even surprised everyone with his ability to take hits after a flying knee landed on his chin. Despite of the impact ‘Chito’ seemed unfazed and went the full distance. However, his recent Tweet, “Who braid your hair @SugaSeanMMA you were grease to the bone I wonder how much gel they use ?” has shocked not only the fans but also Tim Welsh. Ariel Helwani invited Tim Welsh on his ‘The MMA Hour’ show to discuss the allegations.

Welsh took the opportunity to clear the confusion regarding the claims. Welsh made it clear that O’Malley wanted his signature braids to be done on the day of the fight. However, he also cleared that his hair stylist applied normal gel rather than anything different.

He said, “We were gonna get the braid done on the day before on weigh-ins but he’s like ‘Saturday’s gonna be such a long day because we’re fighting so late so might as well get the braid done fight day and then watch some fights. But even the lady commented on one of the posts, the lady who braid his hair, she said she used the normal amount of gel,” Do you agree with Marlon Vera’s claims? Let us know in the comments below.
