Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone has been nominated for the Women’s Super League Player of the Month award for December.
Our no.7 scored the opener for United against Liverpool in our last WSL outing, despite Marc Skinner’s side succumbing to an eventual 2-1 defeat at Leigh Sports Village.
Ella also scored a wonderful chip against Tottenham as we won 4-0 on 10 December, lofting the ball over Rebecca Spencer in an impressive away win for the Reds.
Skinner’s side have enjoyed a strong start to the season after just ten games, as we currently reside in fourth position, on 18 points.
Toone’s influence cannot be understated, having started every single one of our league outings so far this term, with United losing just twice.
Her December performances were impressive, with the England international netting in both fixtures and providing that same dynamism in midfield that we have come to expect from our no.7.
Toone faces stern competition to win the December prize, with four other WSL players in the running.
Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw (both Manchester City), Lena Petermann (Leicester City) and Barbora Votikova (Tottenham Hotspur) are also nominated, with the voting now open.
