There may well be an alternate universe where last season was too much for Daniel Levy and he called it a day.
As recently as May, the long-serving Tottenham chairman was almost reduced to tears after being bombarded with protests from fans for the most dire of seasons.

Spurs are in heaven after eight games
The Antonio Conte experiment failed spectacularly; even caretakers were being replaced by caretakers as things spiralled out of control into a finish without European football.
Things weren’t going much better off of the pitch with a number of managerial candidates supposedly turning the club down, whether it be Julian Naglesmann, Arne Slot or Vincent Kompany.
Fast-forward to September 19, and on walks a previously embattled Levy to the stage at Tottenham’s fan forum.
Able to crack a smile, he was greeted by cheers, although it’s fair to say they were mainly leftovers from the man in front of him, Ange Postecoglou.
The former Celtic manager, who even himself admitted he was far from first choice at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, reaches the second international break of the season top of the Premier League.
One of only two unbeaten teams in the league, even Gabby Agbonlahor has given the highest of praise despite previous criticism.
“We’ve had it for years, Spursy, Spursy, Spursy,” the talkSPORT pundit said. “[James] Maddison has said they’re going to lose that tag and I really think they will – under this manager they’re making the right subs at the right time.
“Last season and the season before we had Spurs fans calling in all the time losing their minds wanting Levy sacked. You’re not hearing a word now, he’s just sitting there watching the games thinking, ‘Oh that was a good choice’.”

Postecoglou leads the win rate list since 2010
Their former striker, Mido, is just as impressed as he told talkSPORT: “It’s a revolution at Tottenham.
“I think Tottenham have got a great coach, a top, top coach. You could see that from the first minute, from the first game, his character, his calmness on the sideline.
“It shows you, maybe, that some clubs like Tottenham, they don’t need maybe the biggest name when it comes to the head coach, but they need the right man.
“They need a man who knows the environment, who knows that it’s very important to bring in young players into the team.
“Big managers and big names, they don’t work this way. They want players who are ready to play first-team football. They want players who will come in and perform straight away.
“So congratulations to the board, to Daniel Levy, because he has been criticised for many seasons now.
“I think, finally, maybe he knows that Tottenham is a club that maybe doesn’t need a big, big name as a coach, but needs someone to come in, work hard, knows the mentality and the environment of the club, of the supporters as well, the mentality of the supporters.
“I’m really, really, really, really happy for Tottenham.”
Levy will understandably be delighted to take the credit for finding Postecoglou, but it’s not all about the mens’ first team either.
The youth team are leading the Premier League 2, and they’re even top of the southern division at under 18 level.

In the PL2 the goals are absolutely flowing, but Spurs fans will be most excited by the under 18 action, with Mikey Moore already bagging seven from six games, all from midfield.
A hat-trick last time out in a 7-2 win over Norwich from the 16-year-old suggests he’s not far from a first-team call up, heading a talented list of youngsters that Postecoglou will be keen to debut.
The women’s team are the only side that aren’t top of their league, but it might not be long with the Women’s Super League only two games young.
A tight defeat to Chelsea to open has been followed by a 3-1 beating of Bristol City, and that’s all without star striker Beth England.
Goalkeeper Becky Spencer has told talkSPORT that her side are ‘thriving’ under new manager Robert Vilahamn, meaning it may well not be long before Spurs make it four from four at the top of every league table.
