Upcoming Events for Cleveland State Athletics
Cross Country
The Cleveland State Vikings are gearing up for the Horizon League Championship, taking place this Saturday, November 2, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This marks the team’s fifth competition of the season and their third event featuring a 6K distance. Natalie Keller has consistently led the pack in both previous 6K races this year, recently achieving a personal-best time of 22:12 during the Falcon Invite.
Men’s Soccer
On Friday, November 1, the men’s soccer team will conclude their regular-season away schedule with a match against Wright State. Their last outing was a remarkable Senior Night where they triumphed over Purdue Fort Wayne with a convincing score of 3-0. Bojan Kolevski shone brightly that evening by scoring twice and assisting once while Ryan Poling recorded his initial collegiate shutout with three critical saves.
Volleyball
This week, volleyball will hit the road for three matches starting on Tuesday, October 29 at Oakland and continuing to IU Indy on both Friday and Saturday (November 1-2). Currently tied for third place in #HLVB standings after securing a sweep against RMU during their last appearance, libero Emma Walker is just two digs away from breaking Cleveland State’s all-time digs record after an impressive total of 48 digs against RMU.
Women’s Soccer
In their previous matchup under new head coach Mark Sappington, women’s soccer ended their season strong. Mayra Sesmas led her teammates offensively by scoring five goals and providing one assist throughout the year.
Men’s Basketball
Cleveland State men’s basketball is set to host its only exhibition game this Wednesday, October 30 against Lourdes at Woodling Gymnasium. The official season opener awaits them on Monday, November 4 as they visit Michigan. This upcoming season marks Coach Daniyal Robinson’s third year leading the program.
Women’s Basketball
The women’s basketball team will also conduct its sole exhibition this week—scheduled for Friday evening (November 1) when they face Edinboro at Wolstein Center. They will begin competitive play on Tuesday night (November 5), challenging top-25 ranked Ohio State. With nine returning players from last season’s squad under head coach Chris Kielsmeier entering his seventh year at helm offers promising roster depth.

Swimming & Diving
On Saturday, November 2nd swimming and diving teams take on Youngstown State in what promises to be another exciting meet. Last week marked a milestone as Brooke Eichel received recognition as #HLSD Diver of The Week after achieving an NCAA Zone Cut score of over265 points in her first-meter events—a significant accomplishment early in her career!
Golf Highlights: Men’s and Women’s Divisions
In men’s golf news: Cleveland participated recently in their concluding fall tournament—ending up eighth overall at Dayton Flyer Invitational where Andrew Kaye claimed individual honors with an eighth-place finish following rounds totaling just above par.
Conversely,troubles were faced within women’s equivalent—but still finishing tied-for-eighth position also illustrated resilience! Highlighting continuous improvement through Kaitlin Kormuth earning another top-20 finish—for her efforts we extend congratulations!
Tennis Finale & Nominees Spotlighted
Cleveland state tennis programs gear towards concluding respective seasons—with women’s squad participating at Toledo Invitational across weekend while simultaneously men’s team prepares itself heading South toward Wake Forest Invitational starting Friday through Sunday( Nov’1st – Nov’03rd).

Andrew Kaye – Men’s Golf:
Delivered stellar completion landing T8 finish post tournament series tally reflecting scores indicate preparedness – “216 choicest methodology applied.”
