Check out our Vitality vs. Cloud9 preview as the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 playoffs stage is set to kickstart with a battle of the titans
Just three series wins away from a historic CS2 major triumph, Vitality and Cloud9 are set to lock horns at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen. Here’s our Vitality vs. Cloud 9 preview ahead of the mouthwatering PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Quarter Final tie.
PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Vitality vs. Cloud9 Preview: How the Teams Fared So Far
Vitality
Counter-Strike powerhouse Team Vitality has been struggling to recapture their dominant form in the Danish capital. Team leader Dan “apEX” Madesclaire has openly acknowledged the challenges they’ve faced, including star player Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut battling illness throughout this stage. ZywOo’s condition has undeniably hampered the team’s overall performance.
The Paris Major champions were left shellshocked in their Copenhagen Major opener as Turkish outfit Eternal Fire condemned them to a 10-13 defeat on Inferno. Vitality bounced back with a convincing win against TheMongolz and then picked up back to back wins against Imperial and Complexity to reach the quarter finals.
In a nail-biting victory, Vitality secured their spot in the PGL Major Copenhagen playoffs after edging out Complexity. The North Americans nearly stole the show, letting slip three map points on Inferno before dominating Vertigo. Anubis, the decider map, became a defensive battleground. Despite struggles on offense, Shahar “flameZ” Shushan’s strong performance propelled Vitality to the finish line.
Cloud9
Cloud9 have not been the most flawless team we have seen in the PFL Major Copenhagen 2024 so far. The lack of a specialist AWPer in the quintet has been apparent at times, but they have managed to deal with the curveballs thrown at them so far.
Cloud9 faced a heart-stopping challenge in their opening match against ECSTATIC. Tobias “kraghen” Kragh Jensen’s quick kills put them on the back foot, but a clutch ace and key AK kills from Abay “HObbit” Khassenov secured the win. Since then, Cloud9 has been on a tear, with only a single defeat to Team Spirit marring their perfect run.
Cloud9 punched their ticket to the PGL Major Copenhagen playoffs with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Natus Vincere. Despite a nail-biting overtime win on Mirage for NaVi, Cloud9 roared back with dominant performances on Ancient and Overpass. The final map was nearly a complete shutout, showcasing Cloud9’s incredible resurgence.

Vitality vs. Cloud9: The Final Verdict
Vitality, with ZywOo hopefully back in form, look to extend their H2H lead against Cloud9 in the Elimination Stage. Cloud9, on the other hand, are riding high after Ax1Le’s resurgence and Boombl4’s strong leadership. This promises to be a thrilling encounter, but the spoils might go to the reigning Major champions.
Vitality to win 2-1
When he’s not sighing at sub-standard teammates in Dota 2 and CS2, The Old One is writing about those two games (among other things). If you see his name around the site too many times for your liking, well, the guy just never stops writing. Yes, we’ve tried an intervention.
