Foxboro is the site for Week 2 of “Sunday Night Football” as Mac Jones and the Patriots host Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins to end Sunday’s slate.
It’s a clash between two AFC East opponents coming off close decisions in Week 1, but it’s only Miami entering Week 2 with a winning record, as New England is still looking to get in the win column.
Tagovailoa and the Miami offense were firing on all cylinders last week, as the Dolphins took down the Chargers 36-34 in LA. Tagovailoa threw for 466 yards and three touchdowns in the win, finishing the game with an impressive rating of 110.0.
The Chargers’ defense had no answer for the speedy Tyreek Hill, as the Dolphins wide receiver hauled in 11 of his 15 targets for 215 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side, the Patriots were unable to take down the Eagles in their season opener, falling 25-20 to the 2022 NFC champions. Jones had a strong showing to kick off 2023, completing 35 of his 54 attempts for 316 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, and Kendrick Bourne had six catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
The New England defense held Eagles QB Jalen Hurts to just 170 yards in the air and 37 yards on the ground, a positive sign heading into a Week 2 matchup against a dynamic Miami offense.
