What happened to Reggie Bush? Explaining Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show change for 2023

What happened to Reggie Bush? Explaining Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show change for 2023

Fans who tune into Fox’s weekly Big Noon Kickoff show are used to listening to a star cast of characters. The panel is hosted by Rob Stone, and features analysts such as Matt Leinhart, Brady Quinn and Urban Meyer.

However, the 2023 show has a slight alteration this year, with one Heisman winner replacing another.

Reggie Bush is no longer on the Fox Sports desk for its Saturday college football pregame show. The former USC standout and 2005 Heisman Trophy recipient joined the crew ahead of the 2019 NCAA season, becoming a fan favorite for four years on the desk.

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff will be in Boulder, Colo., on Saturday, Sept. 30, for the USC-Colorado game, the third time this season the show has spotlighted Deion Sanders’ team. The Big Noon Kickoff team has two big rivalries on the docket, with Michigan vs. Penn State in State College, Pa., and Michigan vs. Ohio State at The Big House.

Here is more on why Bush left Fox Sports, and who his replacement is in 2023.

What happened to Reggie Bush on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff?

Bush did not return to the Big Noon Kickoff desk in 2023 because of a reported contract dispute.

The Heisman winner and the network had previously squabbled over a contract ahead of the 2022 offseason. It got to the point where Fox was looking for alternatives to Bush, most notably ESPN’s Desmond Howard and Robert Griffin III. Eventually, the two sides came to an agreement on a one-year deal for the 2022 season.

This past offseason, the same situation arose again, as Bush was in need of a new deal before the start of this season. However, unlike the year before, the sides could not come to terms on a contract, and Bush left the network.

Who replaced Reggie Bush on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff?

With Bush leaving the Big Noon Kickoff panel, Fox brought in former Alabama running back Mark Ingram II to replace him.

The 2009 Heisman Trophy winner and former Saints first-round pick had just announced his retirement from the NFL, making the swift transition into the media world.

“I’m thrilled to join FOX Sports and BIG NOON KICKOFF”, Ingram said in a statement.  “I can’t wait to feel the energy and excitement every Saturday, alongside some of the most talented and entertaining names in our sport, at the biggest games in college football — I’m ready for the Fall!”

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Heisman Trophy-winner and BCS National Champion Mark Ingram to the FOX Sports family,” Brad Zager said, FOX Sports president of production and operations and executive producer. “Mark’s infectious personality, outstanding playing credentials and above all passion for the game is what makes him such an invaluable asset to our team. With him on board, BIG NOON KICKOFF will continue to provide viewers with unparalleled analysis and commentary each and every Saturday.”
