Pac-12 After Dark will be a thing of the past after this season, in all likelihood. While some late-night kickoffs between west coast schools in new conferences will still be on tap, one of the most unhinged facets of college football won’t ever be the same. That day can’t come soon enough for Colorado coach Deion Sanders.
LIVE: Follow Colorado vs. Stanford updates
The Buffaloes host Stanford in a late window on Friday night, and as one would expect, Sanders didn’t hold back his thoughts, calling late-night kickoffs “the stupidest thing ever in life.”
“Thank God we’re not going to be in this conference,” Sanders told The Athletic, though the reality is that there won’t be much of a Pac-12 conference, if any, by this time next season. Colorado is one of 10 Pac-12 programs already headed for the exits, joining the Big 12 in 2024.
While it’s unclear how the Big 12 plans to schedule games, it’s not unfathomable that Colorado might play in late-night slots considering Utah and Arizona State are also joining the conference. Sanders just might not let that slide so easily.

Here’s what you need to know about when Colorado vs. Stanford will start, as well as how to watch the game.
What time does Colorado vs. Stanford start?
Date: Friday, Oct. 13
Kickoff: 10 p.m. ET (8 p.m. local time)
Friday’s game between Colorado and Stanford is set to kick off at 10 p.m. ET (8 p.m. local time) from Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo.
While 8 p.m. local time doesn’t seem too late for Colorado, Sanders isn’t thrilled. This is the Buffaloes’ second 10 p.m. ET kickoff of the season, and they have a 10:30 p.m. ET kickoff coming next month against Washington State.
Sanders is looking out for viewers outside the Pac-12 footprint as well, as he told The Athletic, “What about the East Coast? Do they even care about ratings or anybody watching it?”
Sanders asked who would want to stay up for an 8 p.m. game, which many East Coast viewers will tell you is just an ordinary night for any sports fan.
It’s no secret that Sanders cares about how many eyeballs are on Colorado’s games, however, and he would like as many viewers to be exposed to his program as possible. While the start time isn’t ideal in his mind, Colorado’s comeback win over Colorado State started at the same time and drew 9.3 million viewers — a record for a late-night college football game.
