Liverpool take on Leicester City on Wednesday, looking to continue their much-improved form at the start of the 2023/24 season.
After a disappointing and trophyless campaign in 2022/23 — in which they finished fifth in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League qualification — Jurgen Klopp’s side appear to be in far ruder health right now.
They’ve picked up five wins from six Premier League outings and now turn their attentions to the Carabao Cup, where recently relegated Leicester — who are in stellar form themselves — await.
The Foxes sit top of the Championship table, with seven wins from eight games under new boss Enzo Maresca, a former assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch it across the world, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Liverpool vs Leicester City projected lineups, team news
After Liverpool beat West Ham last weekend, and with a big game against Tottenham around the corner, Klopp may use this Carabao Cup encounter as an excuse to rotate his side. Reserve goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will likely come in, as could youngsters Stefan Bajcetic, Harvey Elliott and Ben Doak, who are all on the fringes of the first team right now.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is a doubt with a hamstring injury, while Thiago Alcantara remains sidelined but otherwise Klopp has a fully fit squad from which to choose.
Liverpool projected lineup (4-3-3): Kelleher — Bajcetic, Gomez, Konate, Tsimikas — Endo, Elliott, Gravenberch — Doak, Jota, Gakpo
New manager Enzo Maresca has guided Leicester to the top of the Championship just eight games into their stint in the second tier after last season’s relegation. He too may be keen to rest players for the league campaign, regardless of the calibre of opponent the Foxes face in this game.
Merseysider and former Everton man Conor Coady could belatedly make his Foxes debut at this apt time, having recovered from a broken foot. Wide men Cesare Casadei and Marc Albrighton and striker Kelechi Iheanacho could all start, having been on the bench for Saturday’s 1-0 win over Bristol City. Young defender Callum Doyle has been ruled out for “a long time” with an injury.
Leicester projected lineup (4-3-3): Stolarczyk — Pereira, Coady, Vestergaard, Justin — Casadei, Ndidi, Choudhury — Akgun, Iheanacho, Albrighton
Liverpool vs Leicester City prediction, odds
There’s no surprise that Liverpool have been made heavy favourites with the bookmakers for this one.
And our prediction is that Klopp’s side will cruise through to the fourth round in second or third gear, although the odds are that both teams will score, given Leicester’s proficiency in front of goal this season.
Prediction: Liverpool 4-1 Leicester
