Despite an underwhelming finish to their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, England will finish top of Group C having gone undefeated in the group stages.

Scotland have also qualified for next summer’s championship, booking their place at the tournament after they finished in second place in Group A.

While the top two teams from each group will go through to the finals, 12 teams who have missed out on direct qualification will still have a chance to book their place in the finals through next year’s play-offs.

With plenty still to play for, we take a look at which teams have qualified for Euro 2024 and who can still secure a berth in the competition through next year’s play-offs.

How many teams will qualify for UEFA Euro 2024?

A total of 23 teams will play at Euro 2024, with Germany securing an automatic place at the tournament as the hosts.

How do the play-offs work?

While 20 teams have already booked their place at the tournament, three other nations, who have missed out on a finals berth, will still have a chance to play at Euro 2024 by winning the play-offs.

Qualification for the play-offs will depend on each team’s performances in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League.

The group winners of Leagues A, B and C will advance to the play-offs, but should they have already booked their place at the 2024 tournament, they will be replaced by the next highest ranking side in that league.

The Netherlands, Croatia, Spain and Italy all claimed victory in their respective League A groups, while Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Scotland all ranked top in League B.

Georgia, Greece, Turkey and Kazakhstan also won their League C groups, meaning that they are all guaranteed a spot in the play-offs.

Spain, Scotland, Turkey and Croatia all secured direct entry to the Euros, meaning there were several spots up for grabs.

Fixtures will be drawn on Thursday, November 23, with six semi-finals taking place next year..

The winners of those semi-finals will then face off in three finals matches which will determine the final three teams to qualify for the tournament.
