This week’s “Monday Night Football” matchup features two teams playing poorly at the wrong point of the season in the Philadelphia Eagles and the Seattle Seahawks. The Eagles lost the top spot in their division as well as the NFC East after debilitating losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, while the Seahawks have lost four consecutive games – including two against 49ers and one against the Cowboys.
Neither team looks anything like they did in the early portion of the season. After a red-hot start for Philadelphia, the Eagles offense failed to score more for than 19 points in back-to-back games and the team scored at least 30 points once since the start of November. The Seahawks somehow put up 35 on the Cowboys in a losing effort two weeks ago, but otherwise have failed to score more than 20 points in the past month.
A lot will hinge on the quarterback play tonight. Jalen Hurts hasn’t looked himself in weeks for the Eagles, while Geno Smith is battling injuries and missed this past week.
Star wide receivers A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf have continued to impress despite the lack of offensive success, though. Brown has 17 receptions for 208 yards but no touchdowns in the past two weeks and Metcalf had eight catches for 186 yards and four touchdowns in the past two weeks.
