Gabby Douglas is ready to make her gymnastics comeback.
For the first time since the Rio Olympics, the 28-year-old will be participating in an elite gymnastics competition when she arrives in Kentucky for the 2024 Winter Cup. Douglas never officially announced her retirement, but there was speculation that she had stepped away from the sport after she skipped the Tokyo Olympics.

“I was watching the 2022 championships. I was like, ‘Man, I miss competing.’ I’m still a competitor at heart,” Douglas said on “Hallie Jackson NOW” earlier this month. “I decided to start back training, kind of take time to myself. And then I found myself in the gym, and I was like, ‘All right, maybe we could just do this again.'”
But Douglas won’t be the only big name at this year’s Winter Cup.
Suni Lee, who was the all-around champion at the Tokyo Olympics, will also return to action at the meet. She has been dealing with kidney-related health issues over the past year, but she hasn’t stopped dreaming of that trip to Paris.
“I’m at the point where I’m like, ‘I just want to make it there,'” Lee told E! News in December. “If I can make it there with everything going on, that’s going to be as special as winning a gold medal.”

Is Simone Biles competing at Winter Cup gymnastics 2024?
Biles will not be joining Douglas and Lee at the Winter Cup, as she is not on the official entry list for the meet.
The legendary gymnast still wants a spot on the 2024 Olympic team. However, she recently told Vanity Fair, “If I don’t make it to Paris, it won’t absolutely crush me.”
Biles had to withdraw from multiple events at the Tokyo Olympics after experiencing the “twisties,” which results in a loss of air awareness during routines and can lead to injuries.
