Game 1 of the 2023 World Series is here.
Following an exhilarating League Championship Series that each went a full seven games, two unlikely opponents emerged as the Rangers get set to host the Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas to kick off the World Series.
The Rangers have been powered by their explosive offense, leading the entire MLB Playoffs in runs, hits and RBI. All-Star OF Adolis Garcia has been red hot at the plate, belting five home runs in the final three games of the ALCS alone to take home MVP honors. Corey Seager continues to be one of the toughest outs in baseball with a .333 postseason batting average, while rookie OF Evan Carter has wasted no time to make his impact felt, hitting .308 with five RBI and three stolen bases.
The Diamondbacks have used timely hitting to march their way to the World Series, with NLCS MVP Ketel Marte and Rookie of the Year frontrunner Corbin Carroll leading the way. C Gabriel Moreno and SS Geraldo Perdomo have also gotten hot at the right time, producing at an unexpected level at the plate to this point in the postseason.
It will be a battle of the aces in Game 1, as Nathan Eovaldi and Zac Gallen will get the ball to start the World Series. Eovaldi has been lights out in the postseason with a perfect 4-0 record and a 2.42 ERA. Gallen hasn’t been as sharp as he was in the regular season with a 5.24 postseason ERA, but Arizona has no reason not to trust its Cy Young candidate in his biggest start of the season.
