“Big Bang” vs. “The Bronze Bomber” certainly sounds explosive, so fight fans the world over are expecting one of the most exciting heavyweight showdowns in recent years when fellow knockout artists Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder face off on June 1 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will be broadcast by DAZN PPV.
WATCH: Queensberry vs. Matchroom: Zhang vs. Wilder 5v5 live on DAZN
Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) is the former WBC heavyweight champion. The American won the title in 2015 and made 10 successful defenses before surrendering his crown to Tyson Fury in February 2020. Since that time, Wilder, 38, has gone 1-2 in his previous three outings, with a first-round knockout win over Robert Helenius sandwiched between defeats to Fury and Joseph Parker.
“Either you have [fighting spirit] or you don’t and I’m the type of person, I have it,” Wilder told ESPN. “I don’t have to be mad at you, I don’t have to dig up anything that you said. It will never go anywhere, it’s just tamed.”
Zhang (26-2-1, 21 KOs) has never fought for a world title. The 41-year-old southpaw made his name by scoring back-to-back stoppage wins over the previously unbeaten Joe Joyce, which sent a message of intent to the division elite. However, in March, Zhang, like Wilder, dropped a points decision to Parker and he needs a big win to get back in the world title picture.
“I know [Wilder is] coming to beat me. I know he’s coming to try to win and has something to prove. So do I. Saturday night’s going to be fantastic,” Zhang told FightHub via BoxingScene.

THE NEW INTERIM IBF HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION IS DANIEL DUBOIS. THE OFFICIAL TIME OF THE STOPPAGE IS 0:57. EVEN THOUGH HRGOVIC WAS EDGING SOME ROUNDS, HE WAS TAKING PLENTY OF DAMAGE AND SUCCUMBED.
“Full respect to Hrgovic, he’s a good fighter,” said Dubois. “To come through that was a learning experience for me. I’m glad I’ve got this IBF belt and on to the next.
“I was a bit cold to start with, but I heard my corner’s advice and we’ll come through anything. Once I felt a few shots, I woke up and I was just on it.
“I’ve heard the next name will be AJ (Anthony Joshua), so bring it on. This is my time.”
Round 8: Another right from Dubois. Hrgovic struggling with the cuts and now pounded to the body. The doctor inspects the eye damage. IT IS OVER!!! Round123456789101112TotalBivol101010109- Zinad899910-
AND STILL THE WBA LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, DMITRY BIVOL. THE RUSSIAN STAR SECURES THE TKO AT 2:06 OF ROUND 6 AND KEEPS HIS UNDISPUTED TITLE CLASH WITH ARTUR BETERBIEV ALIVE.
“I’m happy that I won,” said Bivol. “My coach is happy and my team is happy. I had enough time to change my preparation for a different fighter from Beterbiev.”
Mid-interview, Turki Alalshikh took the DAZN mic and informed the boxing world that the undisputed title fight would take place on October 12 in conjunction with the opening of Riyadh Season.
