Ebay has an excellent deal for this year’s Acer Nitro 16 gaming laptop. The model on sale is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS APU along with an Nvidia RTX 4070 and it is now US$450 off its MSRP.
The R9 7940HS “Phoenix” APU is particularly popular these days as it combines eight powerful Zen 4 cores with new AI cores and a decent Radeon 780M iGPU. It can also run more advanced games through the RTX 4070 dGPU with 8 GB VRAM and a maximum TGP of 140 W. Only one of the two RAM slots is populated with a 16 GB DDR5 SO-DIMM, leaving room for another 16 GB upgrade. On the storage side, Acer provides a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.
This model also features a 16-inch IPS panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate + Nvidia G-SYNC compatibility, 100% sRGB color gamut and 500 nit maximum brightness.
Port selection includes 1x USB4, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, 1x USB 2.0, an HDMI 2.1 video output, microSD card reader, audio jack and GbE jack. Wireless connectivity is offered through a Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.1 card. Unfortunately, the webcam is limited to 720p, but Acer is compensating with a big 90 Wh battery that brings the total system weight to 5.95 lbs (2.69 kg).
