The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are proving to be extremely popular, as 71% of all iPhones produced in October were Pro models, while Apple produced 16% more iPhone 15s than iPhone 14s in the same month of last year.

According to the latest information from Display Supply Chain Consultants, Apple had around 70 million panels produced for the iPhone 15 series by the end of October. This means that a remarkable 16% more displays were produced for the latest iPhone series than for the iPhone 14 in the previous year, and production of the iPhone 13 has even been exceeded by 21%.

Since production began in June, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max have accounted for 64% of production volume, with the Pro models accounting for 71% in October. Mainly due to stronger demand for the two most expensive models, Apple was able to increase the average selling price of the iPhone 15 series by 5% compared to the iPhone 14. As previously announced by Apple, the company was able to generate USD 43.8 billion in iPhone sales for the third quarter of 2023, i.e. between July and September, 3% more than in the previous year.

The discrepancy in DSCC’s more recent figures is due to the fact that Apple has not yet taken October into account. In October, 74% of all iPhone panels were supplied by Samsung Display, 25% by LG Display, and 1% by Chinese display manufacturer BOE, whose panels have only been used in the iPhone 15 series since October. Despite difficult macroeconomic conditions, data from Display Supply Chain Consultants suggests that the iPhone 15 will be a resounding success.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
