DJI Launches Electric Drive System for High-End Mountain Bikes

On the afternoon of July 3rd, DJI officially launched the Avinox Electric Drive System, marking DJI’s first foray into the electric-assist bicycle market. This assist unit weighs only 2.52 kg, about the size of a palm, but can provide up to 105 Nm of torque, with a rated power of 250W and peak power up to 850W. The Avinox system’s design employs a dual planetary gear structure, making the gearbox layout compact and achieving a large transmission ratio in a small space.

It features four assist modes: Auto, Eco, Trail, and Turbo. In complex road conditions, users can activate the Boost mode to obtain up to 30 seconds of 120 Nm assist torque and an instantaneous maximum output power of 1000W. Users can adjust the assist level, maximum torque, start pedaling response, continuous pedaling response, and other parameters through the mobile app, and sync them to the central control screen for personalized settings.

In terms of battery life, the Avinox electric assist system offers two battery versions, 600Wh and 800Wh, with a nominal range of 117 km and 157 km, respectively. The equipped fast charger uses gallium nitride technology, with a maximum charging power of 508W. The 800Wh battery can be charged from 0% to 75% in only about 1.5 hours, and the charger can be put into a frame bag for easy carrying.

In addition, the Avinox electric assist system is also equipped with a 2-inch OLED color screen, with a brightness of up to 800 nits, capable of displaying information such as exercise time, cycling mileage, average speed, and real-time human-machine power.

The DJI Avinox Drive System combines many advantages, including high torque, small size, lightweight battery, long endurance, 3x fast charging with gallium nitride, DJI intelligent assistance algorithm, and smart vehicle interconnectivity. Simultaneously, the world’s first all-terrain electric mountain bike, the Amflow PL, equipped with the Avinox electric drive system, was also launched today.

The first batch of Amflow PL electric mountain bikes, compatible with the Avinox system, will go on sale later this year, with prices ranging from 7,000 to 12,000 euros.

Zhang Xiaonan, DJI’s Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and Spokesperson, stated: “DJI has deep and accumulated expertise in motors, battery technology, reduction mechanisms, and electrification. Taking the field of motors as an example, from consumer products to professional imaging equipment, to agricultural drones, DJI independently designs and manufactures motors of various powers and sizes. It can be said that DJI possesses the ability to manufacture and optimize the entire chain of motor production, which has been fully market-verified. Based on this, we are officially launching the powerful and lightweight Avinox electric drive system.”
