Fresh rumors have started about the Garmin Descent Mk3i following the leak of an image supposedly showing an event preview. The new wearable series would be a watch-style dive computer, with alleged features including a flashlight, AMOLED display and diver communication via SubWave technology.

Further information about the possible Garmin Descent Mk3 smartwatch appears to have leaked. Rumors about the diving wearable began earlier this year, with information seen on the Garmin Support Mexico site. Four watches are thought to be on the way: the Descent Mk3, Descent Mk3i, Descent Mk3S and Descent Mk3Si.

A new image (below) surfaced by Gadgets & Wearables suggests that Garmin plans to unveil the new smartwatch at an event on November 14. The event preview names the Descent Mk3i, describing it as a “watch-style dive computer”. The gadget is said to have an AMOLED display, an upgrade on the MiP display of the Mk2 series, and an integrated LED flashlight that helps you to see in lower lighting. Multiple dive modes are mentioned, as is SubWave sonar technology, which was noted in the previous leak.

The SubWave tool allows divers to communicate with one another via pre-set messages; SubWave technology is not new to Garmin smartwatches and is already available in the Descent Mk2i. However, it looks like the full feature may not be available for the Mk3i at launch. It is unclear whether this new information is accurate: the source of the event preview is unknown, and Garmin has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors.
