The Samsung Health app will soon launch a new medication tool in the US. The feature allows you to track your medicines and view information about the drug and tips for taking it. Plus, prioritized reminders ensure you do not forget to take your prescription medications.

Samsung has announced a new medication tracking tool for its Health app, which will launch in the US. The company says it has designed the tool to help customers keep track of prescription and over-the-counter medicines, which combine with other health and wellness tracking features for a more holistic overview of your health. Existing tools include exercise and sleep monitoring and irregular heart rhythm detection.

The new medications feature allows you to set up reminders for when to take your next dose. You can prioritize your medicines based on importance, with varying strength in reminders; for example, you may want an antibiotic to have a strong reminder with a full-screen notification, while a vitamin might have a gentle reminder with a minor pop-up. If you have a smartwatch, like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, you can also receive medication reminders on the wearable.

The Samsung app can now provide information about your medicine, like common side effects, adverse reactions observed for some interactions between your pills and other drugs and foods to avoid when taking your medication. A typical example here is Simvastatin, a drug used to lower cholesterol, which you should not take with grapefruit juice. It is worth noting that you must search for and select your medicine to enable all features.

Also included are options for adding a physical description of the pill, to make it easy to identify, alongside the dosage taken and at what time to help you keep on track. The medication tracking feature will arrive in a Samsung Health app update in the US in the next few days. It remains to be seen when the tool will roll out in other countries.
