According to a new report, Samsung has turned to recent Galaxy S flagships for the camera hardware in the Galaxy S23 FE. While the new Fan Edition model should feature the same 50 MP primary camera as the Galaxy S23, it may still be lumbered with its predecessor’s 8 MP telephoto camera.

GalaxyClub has shared new details about the Galaxy S23 FE, Samsung’s next ‘Fan Edition’ smartphone. The Galaxy S23 FE has been the subject of numerous leaks to date, most recently courtesy of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). Additionally, a Geekbench listing suggests the device, codenamed SM-S711U, will rely on the maligned Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

According to GalaxyClub, Samsung has also equipped the Galaxy S23 with modest camera hardware. Reportedly, a 50 MP camera will head up proceedings, which GalaxyClub believes Samsung has borrowed from the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23. If that is the case, then the Galaxy S23 FE’s primary camera has a 1/1.56-inch optical format with an f/1.8 aperture, OIS and 1.0 μm pixels.

Conversely, Samsung is rumoured to have opted for an 8 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, rather than the 10 MP equivalent in the Galaxy S23. In other words, the Galaxy S23 FE may have the same telephoto camera as its predecessor. GalaxyClub asserts that the Galaxy S23 FE has a newer front-facing camera though, with Samsung potentially borrowing a 10 MP sensor from the Galaxy S22. In short, it appears that the Galaxy S23 FE will offer a blend of camera hardware from Galaxy S models past and present.
