On June 19, Chinese tech giant Tencent announced its new large-scale model product Tencent Cloud MaaS (Model as a Service). Tencent defines the product as a “curated store”, offering tailored services supported by large-model technology, databases, computational power, and apps. Enterprises can feed business data into Tencent’s basic models to receive exclusive models based on their specific business requirements and context. Tencent Cloud CEO Dowson Tong said that “most enterprises do not require general AI solutions to their unique problems. Instead, they want appropriate models at reasonable cost.” Vice President of Tencent Cloud Wu Yunsheng added: “Tencent’s large-model product now focuses on solving customer problems rather than expanding in scale. Small-scale models can also meet requirements in an efficient and cost-effective way.” [Caixin, in Chinese]
