The best graphics cards all support ray tracing now, whether you use an Nvidia RTX card or an AMD Radeon one (assuming it’s from the RX 6000 range or perhaps one of the latest RX 7000-series cards). We rounded up every game that supports ray tracing on PC now, as well as several titles that will support the sophisticated lighting tech in the future.
Ray tracing is demanding on your graphics card, but the list of ray tracing PC games continues to grow. If you don’t want to sort through the mess, make sure to read our roundup on the best ray-tracing PC games to know which ones to download first. And if you’re a beginner, jump to the bottom section to find out what you need for ray tracing on PC.
Ray-tracing PC games available now
Although dozens of games support ray tracing, it doesn’t always come in the same form. Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition only uses ray tracing, for example, while Forza Horizon 5 doesn’t have ray tracing in the main game (just in the showroom for your cars). Both are still among the best games to show off your PC, though.
The good news is that games support AMD Radeon and Nvidia RTX ray tracing now, so you don’t have to be worried about getting locked out with a specific graphics card. Here are all of the ray tracing games on PC you can play now:

Ray tracing games coming soon
Ray tracing is launching in new games and coming to old ones all the time, so we rounded up ray-tracing PC games that are coming soon. Some of these titles are new releases that will include ray tracing — such as Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered — while others will receive a ray tracing update at some point (like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt).
There are new ray tracing games coming all the time and even more with reported updates in the works. We kept our list to games that are confirmed to have ray tracing, but the list of upcoming games with the tech is likely much larger. Here are all of the ray-tracing PC games coming soon:
Atomic Heart
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Black Myth: Wukong
On Air
Skull and Bones
The Day Before
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
What you need for ray tracing on PC
Ray tracing isn’t available across the board on PC, even if you’re playing a game with ray tracing support. You need an Nvidia RTX or AMD Radeon RX 6000 or AMD Radeon RX 7000 GPU with the latest graphics card driver installed.
Although ray tracing is a staple of modern GPUs, that doesn’t make it any less demanding. Nvidia offers Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) for its cards to improve performance. On the other hand, AMD has FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), which works with both Nvidia and AMD cards. We recommend turning on either one of those, if they are available if you want to play a game with ray tracing.
You may want to consider DLSS 3 frame generation, or FSR frame generation too, though those technologies are only supported by a handful of games at the time of writing.

This absurd PC with 7 RTX 4090s costs an eye-watering $31,600
Given its sky-high price, it’s safe to say most people do not own an Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU, despite it being one of the best graphics cards you can buy. At $1,499 a pop, it costs more than most PCs, yet one company has just launched a monstrous computer kitted out with no less than seven RTX 4090s. The asking price? A mere 28,999 euros, or roughly $31,600.
Dreamed up by German PC builder Mifcom, the appropriately named Big Boss not only stacks in seven of Nvidia’s most powerful graphics cards but fits each of them with a watercooler too. Those GPUs bring a combined 168GB of video memory to the table for an absolutely absurd amount of power.

Ray tracing vs. path tracing — which is the best dynamic lighting technique?
Ray tracing is a lighting effect that has divided gamers and GPU manufacturers for years. Some consider it the next generation of in-game lighting that is ushering in previously impossible visual effects, while others see it as far too costly in terms of dollars for supporting hardware, and are also critical of its impact on frame rates. But it’s not the only advanced lighting technique in town. Path tracing is an alternative way of handling dynamic lighting that can be both prettier to look at and less demanding on a GPU. At least in theory.
In reality, ray tracing and path tracing have their place in games, and you may find yourself playing with both of them in the years to come. Here’s how ray tracing and path tracing compare.
