On Sunday evening, Alibaba Cloud experienced a system breakdown, the second time since December, 2022. Many Alibaba products including Taobao, Aliyun Drive, and Xianyu were affected.
Around 19:20 in the evening, all Alibaba-owned apps were fully restored after emergency handling.
It was also reported that in an official DingTalk group related to Aliyun customer service support, administrators reported that starting from 17:44 on November 12th, 2023, there were abnormal accesses and API calls to Aliyun product console. Aliyun engineers have been urgently investigating the issue.
Alibaba Cloud has not yet made an official response regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, a screenshot of a chat history circulating on Chinese social media shows that a user under the avatar of Tencent‘s founder and CEO Pony Ma wrote that “Alibaba Cloud is not as good as Tencent Cloud, friends”. But Tencent Cloud has stated that this screenshot is fake.
