Mingtiandi’s third annual Asia Office Strategies Forum gets underway on Thursday, with the online event series taking a look at challenges and opportunities for investors in commercial real estate’s biggest sector.

The three-part series on Mingtiandi’s MTD TV video platform, which is sponsored by Yardi, features sessions on core office strategies, and the growing role of life sciences in this section of the market in Asia Pacific, as well as on value-add and opportunistic approaches, while finishing with a panel on the future of the office.

Speakers on the program include top executives from pension fund managers APG Asset Management, the Canada Public Pension Investment Board (CPPIB) and Ivanhoe Cambridge, as well as senior leaders from property investment giants Brookfield, CapitaLand, LaSalle and Phoenix Property Investors.

Also providing insights will be veteran advisors from JLL, Baker McKenzie, Yardi and Benoy.

Core Office, Life Science Lead the Program

The forum starts off at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time on Thursday, 19 October with a panel on core office investment, which includes Tim Graham, an executive director who head of the international capital division for Asia Pacific at JLL; Dominic Doran, a senior director managing private real estate investments for Asia Pacific with APG Asset Management; David Green-Morgan, global head of real assets research for MSCI and En Lai Tan, a local principal with Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow in Singapore.

The panel will take a special look at the growing importance of life science investments in Asia’s office market.

The second session in the forum on 24 October focuses on value-add and opportunistic strategies and has appearing as speakers Daisuke Hayashi, a partner and Japan chief representative with Phoenix Property Investors; Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam, CEO for India Business Parks at CapitaLand Investment; Hari Krishna V, a managing director for real estate with CPPIB who is also a member of the firm’s global leadership teeam; and Josephine Yip, senior director for investments and asset management for Asia Pacific at Ivanhoé Cambridge.

Wrapping up the forum on 26 October will be a panel on the future of the office, which will look at the transformation of office use in Asia Pacific while also looking at demand for more sustainable workspaces and more flexible leases.

Joining the future of the office show will be George Goh, head of acquisitions and asset management for Southeast Asia at LaSalle Investment Management; Bernie Devine, senior regional director for Asia Pacific at Yardi; Leonie Wilkinson, senior vice president for portfolio management with Brookfield Asset Management; and Terence Seah, a director who serves as head of Hong Kong, Singapore and Shenzhen for international design firm Benoy.

Onward to Singapore

Following the office forum the Mingtiandi team will be on the road to Singapore next month to bring you the Mingtiandi Singapore Forum on 14 November.

That event at the Conrad Centennial hotel will feature speakers from top pension fund and sovereign investors including Ivanhoe Cambridge, Oxford Properties and APG Asset Management as we explore topics including the outlook for Southeast Asia industrial, Singapore commercial and lodging investment across the region.

Also on the program will be speakers from investment managers Warburg Pincus, ESR, SC Capital, Gaw Capital, TE Capital, BW Industrial and NWP Property, as the forum brings you sessions on Singapore outbound investment, private credit strategies and more.

Additional speakers include senior executives from JLL, Savills and more.
