A major European fund manager’s selection of a lead for its new office in Hong Kong leads this week’s roundup of personnel moves from around the region. Also making the list is a JD.com executive exiting to join ADIA and a Tokyo-listed REIT names a new director.
Partners Group has appointed Henry Chui as head of its new Hong Kong office, with the company veteran taking on the new role in addition to his role as head of private wealth for Asia Pacific with the Switzerland-based firm, according to an announcement. Partners Group is opening its Hong Kong office this month as its seventh in Asia as it notes increasing appetite for access to private markets in the Greater China area.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority has hired former JD.com executive Hugo Hu to lead its private equity division for China, according to a Bloomberg account. Before joining ADIA, Hu had served since December 2022 as head of JD’s Jingdong Industrials unit, which had filed for a Hong Kong initial public offering in March 2023. Hu had worked for JD since 2021 after previously spending 13 years at Warburg Pincus.
Tokyo-listed Nippon REIT Investment Corporation announced to the stock exchange on 13 June that its manager has resolved to appoint Hiroki Miyagawa, also known as Hiroki Yamamoto, as a part-time director of the company with the change to be submitted at the manager’s shareholder meeting on 25 June. Miyagawa, who has served since July last year as a senior vice president with SBI Securities, would be replacing Hideaki Fudaki, who is resigning from the company.
Sky Van has joined GLP Capital Partners in Shanghai as a vice president for fund management with the fund management unit of industrial real estate giant GLP, per a LinkedIn update. Yan took on his new role recently after more than two years with Harmony Real Estate Capital in Shanghai, where he had served as an executive managing director. Yan also has previous experience with DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners and Platinum Securities.
Genevieve Wong has taken on a new role with DHL Supply Chain in Singapore, where she now serves as senior director for real estate solutions with the company’s Asia Pacific business development division, according to a LinkedIn post. Wong takes on her new responsibilities with the contract logistics specialist after just over a year as director of marketing and communications with data centre operator Empyrion Digital.
Selina Lim has joined Empyrion Digital in Singapore as head of marketing with the data centre operator backed by private equity firm Seraya Partners. Lim stepped into her new role this month after just under a year as director for private funds focused on the data centre sector with Capitaland, where she led fund raising and investor reporting for a S$1 billion ($738 million) data centre fund.
JLL has hired Fuminiro Asaki as head of data centre advisory services for Japan, according to an announcement, with Asaki rejoining the company in Tokyo after just under a year and a half with CBRE Investment Management’s data centre business. As part of the same announcement JLL also introduced former Savills Asset Advisory associate director Masue Suzuki and capital markets director Andrew Dolan, who joined the firm in 2022, as part of its Japan data centre squad.
Colliers has appointed Felix Lai as head of industrial sales for Hong Kong with the property consultancy, according to an announcement this past week. Reporting to Colliers’ Hong Kong managing director CK Lau, Lai has over 30 years of experience in the industry, including having advised on deals such as the NWS Kwai Chung Logistics Centre, 41 King Yip Street and more, according to the announcement.
