On November 30th, according to official news from BMW Group, BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz (China) Investment Co., Ltd. announced the signing of a cooperation agreement. The two parties will establish a joint venture company in China with a 50:50 equity ratio to operate a supercharging network in the Chinese market, jointly meeting the growing demand of Chinese customers for luxury charging services.
By the end of 2026, the joint venture company plans to build at least 1,000 advanced technology supercharging stations and approximately 7,000 supercharging piles in China. The first batch of charging stations is scheduled to start operating in key new energy vehicle cities in China from 2024, and subsequent charging station construction will also cover other cities and regions nationwide.
The joint venture company’s charging network will be open to the public. According to the plan, customers of BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz Group will enjoy exclusive premium services such as plug-and-charge and online reservations for a seamless digital charging experience. In addition, the joint venture company plans to procure renewable energy electricity when conditions permit, providing sustainable luxury charging experiences for Chinese customers.
