Capcom has confirmed that it has plans to remake more Resident Evil games. While remakes have been a part of the franchise since its early days, Capcom has become quite aggressive about them. And it seems the success of the past remakes is fueling the game developer’s future plans with the franchise.
At the PlayStation partner awards event held in Japan, Yasuhiro Anpo said Capcom will be announcing the next Resident Evil remake in due course. For those wondering, Yasuhiro Anpo is the director of the Resident Evil 4 remake (PS5 version curr. US$47.87 on Amazon).
Nonetheless, this decision doesn’t come as a surprise, as Capcom has had great success with the previous Resident Evil remakes. But Anpo hasn’t really said much about which game of the franchise is next in line. As reported by IGN, Anpo said, “What game we will remake in the future is something that we would like to announce in the future, so please look forward to it.”
Many believe that Resident Evil 5 could be next in line, while some fans think it would be the franchise’s first iteration. But no matter which game the Capcom chooses, there’s a chance that it won’t come out any time soon.
According to Dusk Golem, a reliable insider, Capcom won’t be releasing any Resident Evil remakes in 2024. This suggests that the earliest release could be in 2025. Also, Resident Evil 9 is reportedly in development, so it’s pretty unpredictable when the next remake will actually hit the market.
