Detailed Insomniac Games future roadmap leak reveals new Spiderman, Venom, Wolverine, and X-Men games in development

Since its acquisition by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Insomniac Games has released three titles including two new Spiderman games. If the latest round of leaks is accurate, the studio is far from slowing down and is reportedly set to release a total of 6 new games by 2035. Among the new games, four titles are allegedly based on Marvel superhero properties

Insomniac Games, Sony’s first-party studio responsible for smash hits like Marvel’s Spiderman, was the target of a devastating ransomware attack last week. Rhysida, the group behind the attack, gave Sony a week to comply with demands before it started leaking the contents obtained as a result of the hack. It seems that a vast majority of leaked information has now made its way to the internet providing us an opportunity to look into Insomniac Games’ future roadmap.

Single-player future Insomniac titles

First up, it appears that Insomniac is developing multiple single-player titles for the PS5 based on Marvel IPs and two new original IPs. The roadmap posted on Reddit earlier contains mentions of Marvel’s Wolverine set to release in 2025 followed by Spiderman 3 in 2027, and Marvel’s X-Men game expected to come out in 2029.

When it comes to Insomniac’s original games, the roadmap mentions two new IPs set for 2031 and 2035. Between these two titles, Insomniac could also release an X-Men 3 in 2033.

Interestingly, there is a different leaked roadmap that portrays a different set of games and release dates for the titles. For instance, this Insomniac Games roadmap puts Marvel’s Venom as the 2025 title while pushing Wolverine to 2026. Additionally, the leaked slide also pushed Spiderman 3 one year back to 2028 while also mentioning a new Ratchet & Clank game for 2029 and Marvel’s X-Men for 2030. The two new IPs mentioned earlier are relegated to 2031 and 2032.

Multiplayer future Insomniac titles

In addition to the single-player experiences, Insomniac Games also supposedly has multiple multiplayer titles in the works. The leaked roadmap mentions Spiderman 2 Online for 2024 followed by Wolverine Online and X-Men Online for 2026 and 2028 respectively. The studio appears to have been developing the multiplayer architecture used by the aforementioned titles for many years.

All in all, Insomniac Games seems far from slowing down and is purportedly keeping the rapid pace of development the studio is known for. That said, video games are notorious for facing delays and last-minute cancelations, for instance The Last of Us Multiplayer which Sony recently canceled. So, take the information presented here with a grain of salt.
