Decent protection, but terrible usability issues courtesy of a woeful keyboard. Getac is a company that specialises in building rugged devices, from handheld computers, through tablets, to full-sized laptops. Overall, the Getac B300 is a really difficult proposition. Protection for your machine is excellent – although just pipped by the Dell – and there are innovative features that some will find invaluable, but the keyboard is truly terrible and ultimately a major deal-breaker for us.

Getac is no stranger to first responders and field workers (and no stranger to these pages). Indeed, we reviewed the first Getac B360 13.3-inch rugged laptop in 2020, and it remained our top pick among fully rugged notebooks until it was edged out by the 14-inch Panasonic Toughbook 40 in 2022. Now, the new B360 G2 (starts at $3,669; $5,476 as tested) is as indestructible as the original with enhanced processing power and connectivity, including what the company says is the first 5G mobile broadband in a rugged laptop. The Toughbook 40 keeps its Editors’ Choice tag for its greater post-purchase modularity or customizability, but the Getac is a more portable (5.11 versus 7.4 pounds) option that won’t let you down in the worst conditions.

Getac: Getac was founded in 1989 by MiTAC Technology Corporation and GE Aerospace as a joint venture in Taiwan, and focussed in rugged mobile computing computers. Getac provides fully rugged notebooks and tablet PCs for military, law enforcement, public safety, utilities, telecommunication, manufacturing, field service and mobile workforce industries.
These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100 is an integrated (onboard) graphic chip on a Mobile Intel 965GM chipset. It is the successor of GMA 950 and features a fully programmable pipeline (supports Aero Glass fully and DirectX 10 with newest drivers). The peformance of the X3100 is clearly better than the GMA 950, still demanding modern games won’t run fluently.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
Intel Alder Lake-P:
i7-1280P: The flagship Alder Lake-P CPU featuring 6 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. This i7 is designed for use in ultra-light laptops; its performance cores feature the thread-doubling Hyper-Threading technology for whopping 20 threads in total. The CPU runs at 1.3 GHz to 4.8 GHz and has an “Enterprise” tier vPro feature set. Core i7-1280P has a Base Power of 28 W and the 96 EU Iris Xe iGPU.
