With the Magic6 Pro, Honor presents an unusual camera flagship with an eye-catching design in five colors, which has a dual selfie camera, a 50 MP f/1.4 main camera with variable aperture, and a 180-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

The brand new Honor Magic6 Pro offers a decidedly modern design with a 6.8-inch, 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,280 pixels and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, which is subtly rounded off on the left and right sides. The back is available in five colors with different textures, and the almost round camera module is downright gigantic.

There is a reason for this: Honor has installed a 50-megapixel main camera with a sensor in 1/1.3 inch format, offering a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/2.0 and OIS. In addition, there is a 50 MP f/2.0 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 180-megapixel f/2.6 periscope telephoto camera with 2.5x zoom and 1/1.49 inch sensor, making Honor one of the best equipped telephoto cameras in the industry. The 50 MP f/2.0 selfie camera is accompanied by a ToF sensor, which enables secure 3D face recognition; alternatively, a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display is also available.

Both the rear cameras and the selfie camera can record 4K videos. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 5,600 mAh battery with 80 watts USB-C and 66 watts wireless fast charging, and Wi-Fi 7 round off the features. The cheaper Honor Magic6 has the same design, apart from the slightly smaller camera module. The device has the same display, the same processor, and the same selfie camera as the Pro model, but does not have 3D face recognition.

The battery is slightly smaller at 5,450 mAh and “only” charges with 66 watts via USB-C or 50 watts wirelessly. The main compromises are in the cameras. Although the main camera is also based on a 50 MP sensor in 1/1.3 inch format on the basic model, an f/1.9 lens is used instead of the one with variable aperture. The 50 MP f/2.0 ultra-wide-angle camera is retained, but the Magic6 has a much simpler 32 MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 2.5x zoom.

Prices and availability

The Honor Magic6 starts in China with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB flash memory for 4,399 yuan (approx. 565 euros). The Magic6 Pro with the same memory configuration costs 5,699 yuan (approx. 732 euros), or 6,699 yuan (approx. 860 euros) with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB flash memory.
