Honor’s new X50 Pro offers budget-friendly excellence with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset for efficient performance. The 6.78-inch display, though lacking LTPO, impresses with 10-bit colour support. Featuring a 108MP primary camera, with a 5,800mAh battery and 35W charging, it strikes a balance between affordability and quality at 2,799 Yuan ($400) in China, making it a compelling choice

Honor, the smartphone brand known for its commitment to affordability and innovation, has introduced the X50 Pro. This new device is positioned to capture the attention of users seeking a budget-friendly smartphone without compromising on performance. Balancing cost-effectiveness with impressive specifications, the Honor X50 Pro is set to cater to a diverse audience.

Powering the Honor X50 Pro is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a nod to its older generation but a strategic choice considering the phone’s lucrative starting price. Despite being a slightly dated processor, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 assures users of efficient handling of daily tasks, promising satisfactory performance.

The smartphone boasts a generous 6.78-inch display with a resolution of 2652×1200 pixels. However, it’s worth noting that the absence of LTPO technology limits the refresh rate to either 60 Hz, or 120 Hz. The rear camera setup on the Honor X50 Pro includes a noteworthy 108-megapixel primary sensor with an impressive f/1.75 aperture and a 1/1.67-inch sensor along with a 2 MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. While the dual setup provides flexibility, the necessity of the 2-megapixel unit might leave users curious about its practical use. Despite this, the primary sensor promises exceptional photography capabilities. For the front, the Honor X50 Pro features an 8-megapixel unit with an f/2.0 aperture.

Powering the device is a robust 5,800 mAh battery, coupled with 35 W charging capability. Notably, Honor has opted for a more modest charging speed, deviating from the super-fast charging trends in the industry. The Honor X50 Pro is currently available in China for 2,799 Yuan for the 12 GB + 256 GB variant, translating to approximately $400. Acknowledging that compromises are inevitable due to the device’s affordability, it’s crucial to recognize the overall value the phone delivers at its price point.
