HP claims that its latest Chrome OS convertible can last the course as a rugged work PC. The Fortis x360 G5 is also touted to be as adapted to writing by hand as it is to typing, thanks to its Gorilla Glass 3-enhanced screen and option of using the HP USI Garaged Pen accessory. The G5 is also backed to stay mobile with a “long-lasting” battery and charging that might not take that long.
On paper, the HP Fortis x360 G5 Chromebook seems to combine all the best attributes of its equally new G10 and G11 siblings, in that its durable chassis has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3-fortified 11-inch HD display that can swing around into tablet mode in order to put its touch-response to use, and runs a version of Chrome OS currently rated to stay updated up until the end of June 2033 via the Chrome Enterprise/Education Upgrade and Zero-Touch Enrollment programs.
It also has the Titan C chip for security as well as HP’s Privacy Camera. Like the G10, it runs on a main Intel N-series platform for its Wi-Fi 6E/Bluetooth 5.3 and optional 4G/LTE and WWAN. The G5 also has the same complement of ports, which include dual USB type-As to go with 2 USB-C ports.
Then again, 1 of the latter also has to act as a charge inputs for the Chromebook’s “90% in 90 minutes” 45W power brick. The HP Fortis x360 G5 will be available through its OEM online “soon” for recommended prices from $479.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
