Huawei Developing Advanced Vision Headset with In-House Chip and 4K Micro-OLED Screen

On February 7th, Li Nan, who previously served as the Chief Marketing Officer at Chinese smartphone maker Meizu Technology, revealed on his personal Weibo account that Huawei is in the process of developing a Vision headset. This new device is expected to be priced at around 15,000 yuan.

According to Li Nan, this upcoming headset will feature a chip developed in-house by Huawei, promising almost zero latency in spatial operations. It will also come equipped with a Sony 4K Micro-OLED screen, which is anticipated to be ready for shipment within the next six months. Despite packing these advanced features, the device will weigh a modest 350 grams. Interestingly, compared to Apple’s Vision Pro headset, Huawei’s version will not include the “eyesight” feature.

In 2021, Huawei had introduced a head-mounted display known as Vision Glass. These smart viewing glasses came with dual 1080P Micro-OLED screens and were primarily designed for viewing media.

Back in May 2019, Huawei had secured the “Vision Pro” trademark under international classification 9. This classification encompasses a wide range of products and services, including LCD TVs, head-mounted virtual reality devices, radio equipment, and more. Huawei has also utilized the Vision trademark for its Vision Smart Screen. Consequently, when Apple’s Vision Pro makes its debut in the Chinese market, it may have to adopt a different name due to Huawei’s prior claim.
