If you’ve ever been to In-N-Out, you probably know there’s a secret menu that allows you to order customized burgers and fries that don’t appear on the official menu. But thanks to the internet, there are social media users who are a little confused about what’s actually available on the secret menu. In fact, influencers are spreading bad information about fake items that people can order and workers at the fast food restaurant are reportedly tired of people requesting non-existent items.
Officially, there are six secret menu orders you can make at In-N-Out, as Los Angeles-based news outlet KTLA explains.
Double meat: a burger two patties 3X3: burger with three burger patties and three slices of cheese 4×4: burger with four burger patties and four slices of cheese Grilled Cheese: two slices of cheese and no beef patty Protein Style: a burger in lettuce rather than a bun Animal Style: fries or burger cooked in mustard and topped with extra pickle, extra sauce, and grilled onions
There are even a handful of unofficial secret menu items that you may be able to get including the Flying Dutchman (just two slices of cheese and two beef patties) and Lemon Fries, which is fries with lemon juice squeezed on top. But just about anything else you’ve heard about isn’t real.
What fake menu items have people been ordering, much to the chagrin of the workers at In-N-Out? For starters, some people have been ordering something called Doggy Style Fries, which they say means that fries are topped with cheese and hot dogs that have been chopped up. One big problem with this item, of course, is that In-N-Out doesn’t even serve hot dogs, as KTLA says.
Another fake order is Monkey Style, which supposedly means Animal-Style fries are added to your burger. As SFGate notes, the Monkey Style hoax dates back to at least 2013. Still another rumor that’s passed through social media is the idea that you can get a free Pup Patty for your dog. You can get a Pup Patty if you ask nicely, but it won’t be free.
Yes, In-N-Out has plenty of secret menu items. But for the sake of the people who work there, don’t try to order anything that’s not on the official list. The workers have heard it all before and you’re not going to sound clever trying it on for size.
