The Raptor Lake HX-based Intel Core i7-14700K has been benchmarked online. Overall, it is up to 18% faster than the Core i7-13700K. Its actual performance uplift could be higher once the CPU launches in October.
Intel’s new nomenclature for its upcoming CPUs has left many puzzled. While there seems to be some method to the madness, only time will tell what the processors will be called. Meanwhile, Twitter leaker @wxnod has given us our first look at how the Intel Core i7-14700K performs in the real world.
The processor, a part of Intel’s Raptor Lake refresh lineup, scores 980.2 and 14,988.5 in CPU-Z’s single and multi-core benchmarks, respectively. In Cinebench R23, the Core i7-14700K nets 2,192 (single-core) and 36,296 (multi-core), making it ~5% faster than its predecessor and ~18% in multi-core. The former is a bit short of the 8% performance boost predicted earlier, while the latter exceeds expectations.
@wxnod’s screenshot obfuscates the core/thread count for some reason. Thankfully, @harukaze5719 shared another one showing the Core i7-14700K to pack 20 cores (8P + 12E) and 28 threads with 33 MB of L3 cache. Other information about the CPU is a mystery now, but it shouldn’t be long before we find out, as Intel is expected to launch the Raptor Lake refresh sometime in October 2023.
