Some packaging for the Intel Core i9-14900K and i9-14900KF has made its way onto social media. The boxes for the Raptor Lake Refresh desktop processors appear to be pretty standard for Intel, with the company preparing to shake things up with its new branding for the incoming Meteor Lake mobile chip series.
A few images of the Intel Core i9-14900K and Intel Core i9-14900KF boxes have started floating around social media. Unsurprisingly, the packaging looks very similar to the boxes that were used for the original 2022/23 13th-generation Raptor Lake desktop processors. Intel has deemed that the 14th-generation of desktop chips will be part of a Raptor Lake Refresh, as opposed to being part of the potentially innovative Meteor Lake range that will be made up of just mobile processors.
This means the familiar “i” in the branding is still on-board, as can be seen in the three images posted below. The Intel Core i9-14900K and i9-14900KF will be the premium SKUs in the series, boasting of 24 cores (8x Performance; 16x Efficient) and 32 threads. These chips are expected to hit clocks of 6.0 GHz while requiring 125 W PBP (Processor Base Power) and 253 W MTP (Maximum Turbo Power). The chips seemingly offer a slight performance increase, from base to turbo, over their 13th-generation counterparts.
The incoming Intel Core i9-14900K and i9-14900KF, scheduled for launch on October 17, offer something of a final hurrah for Team Blue as it will be introducing an overhauled branding scheme for the Meteor Lake mobile series. Prices for these Raptor Lake Refresh processors have not been revealed yet, but the i9-13900K was priced at US$589 with the KF variant (no iGPU present) coming in at a slightly lower amount of US$564.
