The 7th generation of Lenovo’s 14-inch flagship convertible has dropped to an incredibly low sale price of $688 as the Chinese PC manufacturer grants a gigantic $841 discount on a well-rounded Core i5 configuration of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, which comes with 16GB of memory and a decent 1200p IPS display.
The ThinkPad X1 Yoga line of business convertibles has recently entered its 9th model generation, which packs Intel’s latest Meteor processors and a few other technical upgrades. But as usual, people who don’t want to pay a premium for Lenovo’s latest and greatest tech can save some hard-earned money by opting for one of the previous versions of the 14-inch laptop.
For example, Lenovo has put the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 convertible with the Intel Core i5-1245U Alder Lake CPU and soldered 16GB RAM on sale for just $688, which is the result of a generous price cut of 55% or $841. Shipping is free, and this ThinkPad X1 Yoga SKU further comes with preinstalled Windows 11 Pro as well as a 512GB NVME SSD and an adequate Full-HD touchscreen, which has a peak brightness of 400 nits and covers the entire sRGB color space.
After our rigorous testing procedure, we concluded that the 7th Gen Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga is a very good machine with a well-made aluminium chassis and comfortable input devices and speakers. Moreover, we praised the Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 6E support, but unfortunately, our test unit with a Core i7-1270P did suffer from noticeable thermal throttling under load.
However, since this particular configuration of the high-end convertible sports a less power-hungry U-series chip that is better suited for a sleek 14-inch laptop, this issue should be less prevalent. All in all, this business notebook deal is definitely worth consideration for buyers who have set less than $700 aside for a new 14-inch machine.
