Japanese company Linfiny is offering a new tablet with a particularly thin E Ink display. Thanks to the large display, more intricate drawings or sketches can be displayed without the need for magnification or zooming in.

Linfiny is offering a new e-reader which is more of a tablet with an E Ink-based display. With a screen diagonal of 13.3 inches, the large display is advantageous in that more extensive sketches or notes, such as blueprints or building layouts, can be displayed without having to zoom in.

The panel is supposed to be able to display a total of 4,096 colors. As usual, the resolution drops significantly when this function is used; the pixel density is said to be only 120 PPI, while in black and white it is given as 207 PPI. Regarding dimensions, the tablet is reportedly only 5.7 millimeters thick and weighs 368 grams. The panel is flexible and is intended to be sturdy and withstand bumps without breaking.

The tablet is equipped with an eight-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. Internal storage is said to be 32 GB. Data can be transferred to the device via WiFi and USB-C. A Bluetooth 5.0 connection is also available.

A stylus is also included, which can be used with different tips. The use of different PDF formats should be possible, and the tablet should also be able to create special PDF forms that can be used to query various data. Currently, there is no information about a possible international release; this tablet is likely to be aimed more at professional customers.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
