The main goal of the AI Alliance, launched by Meta, IBM, Intel, Sony, Dell, and other companies, is the responsible development of AI technology with an emphasis on safety and security measures. The group also intends to promote the proliferation of open-source AI models.

Meta Platforms Inc. and International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) are teaming up with more than 40 companies and organizations, including Intel, Sony Group, and Dell, to create an industry consortium that will focus on developing open-source artificial intelligence (AI). The goal of the AI Alliance is to promote responsible AI development, facilitate technology sharing, and address potential risks associated with AI.

The alliance’s primary focus will be on creating AI security and safety capabilities. It will also work to support the development of new hardware, expand the use of open-source AI models, and cooperate with academic researchers.

A technical oversight committee and governing board will eventually be established by the group. Along with academic and research institutions like the University of Notre Dame and the Mass Open Cloud Alliance, participants include Oracle Corp., and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD).

Open-source AI proponents contend that this approach offers a more effective means of creating these complex systems. Large language models developed by Meta are the basis for AI chatbots, and the company just made them available as open-source resources.

On the other hand, OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has closely guarded its huge AI algorithms, or models. Only with OpenAI’s consent are developers able to view them. The biggest supporter of OpenAI is Microsoft. Even more major players in AI, like Google and Amazon, have not fully opened-sourced or made their models available for academics to download. Amazon, for example, invested in the popular AI business Anthropic and just unveiled its ChatGPT equivalent.

The establishment of the AI Alliance is indicative of a growing movement in the IT sector to promote transparent communication and open cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence research.

The Asus 2023 Vivobook Go 15 Laptop is currently available on Amazon at a discounted price of $369.99, which is 33% off its original price. This laptop is an excellent choice for generating AI-generated images and saving time, thanks to its powerful 8-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics.
