Govee has launched the TV Backlight 3 Lite in countries globally. The device uses a fish-eye camera to detect the colors on your TV screen, projecting them on the wall behind for an enhanced viewing experience. Other features include app or voice controls and Matter compatibility in the future.
The Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite is now on sale worldwide. The new model appears to be the first of a range of products, with the company labelling it the “entry model of the third-generation TV Backlight series”. The product projects light onto the wall behind your TV, enhancing the colors on the screen and reducing eye strain.
The Backlight 3 Lite is described as producing RGBIC+W light, with an extra warm white to improve your movie-watching or gaming experience. Compared to the second generation, the new model has upgraded Envisual Technology and a fish-eye correction camera for more accurate color matching and edges. The gadget will also support Matter in the future, though Govee has not indicated a timeframe for this. The Backlight 3 Lite is less powerful than its predecessor, with a single rather than dual camera and 30 LEDs/m, rather than 60 LEDs/m.
You can control the Backlight 3 Lite using the Govee Home app and Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. Intelligent features include an automatic switch-off when a black or static screen is detected, and you can link up to eight Govee lights for co-ordinated lighting. The device is suitable for 55 to 65-inch TVs, including ultra-thin models, and is said to be compatible with any TV content. You can now buy the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite for the discounted price of US$74.99/CA$89.99/£67.49/€67.49; the gadget will typically retail for US$84.99/CA$119.99/£89.99/€89.99 It is unclear how long these introductory offers will last.
