On Wednesday, Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, reiterated the company’s commitment to the Chinese market at the 2023 DealBook Summit. He said, “We must develop new chips that comply with export control regulations. Once we meet the requirements, we will resume sales in China.” He also mentioned that Nvidia will strive to do business with everyone.
In addition, Jensen Huang believes that artificial general intelligence (AGI) can achieve “considerable competitiveness” in the next five years. With the increasing demand for high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs), there will be a significant workload running in industries such as automotive, construction, electronics, engineering, and scientific research.
Recently, it has been reported that NVIDIA has developed the latest improved version of AI chips specifically for the Chinese market, including HGX H20 and L20 PCIe. The LLM inference performance of these chips is more than 20% faster than H100. However, due to integration issues faced by server manufacturers with chipsets, NVIDIA informed Chinese customers that the launch of HGX H20 AI chips would be delayed until the first quarter of next year. But sources say that there will be no delay for the L20 chip and it will be launched according to schedule.
