Galax has managed to fit the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti with 16 GB GDDR6 into a housing that is just 2 centimeters thin, making the graphics card perfect for particularly compact gaming computers.

Galax has presented the first variant of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Unparalleled Max that is only one PCIe slot wide, i.e. 2 centimeters. In order to cool the GPU with its 165 watts of power dissipation, the 28-cm case is slightly longer than commercially available variants with two fans, such as the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Ventus 2X, which is 19.9 cm long, but 4.2 cm thick.

Galax is yet to release photos of the cooling system, which reportedly combines a large fan with a vapor chamber and a copper heat sink. How well this extremely narrow cooling system works in practice remains to be seen. The GPU can be overclocked via firmware, but the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti from Galax only reaches Nvidia’s standard clock frequencies, i.e. a boost clock of 2535 MHz.

According to our gaming benchmarks, the performance of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB is sufficient to run demanding games smoothly in 1440p resolution at maximum detail levels. 4K gaming is possible for many titles, but more demanding games such as The Last of Us or Hogwarts Legacy require DLSS to be activated or the detail level to be reduced. Power is supplied via a single 8-pin connector. The graphics card supports four monitors with three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.1.

Price and availability

Galax is yet to announce the price or the sales launch date of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB Unparalleled Max, but the graphics card is likely to be launched in China first, as is usual for Galax.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
