A new addition to the OnePlus Nord line of Android smartphones is projected to hit the Chinese market first as the Ace 3V. Its display is predicted to have some premium properties, and to be kept on with an even bigger battery than that of the freshly-launched flagship 12. Then again, the rest of its rumored specs might put it a few rungs down in terms of price.
The Ace 2V emerged as a OnePlus smartphone with a slightly wild hotch-potch of specs to hit the price-point below that of its vanilla flagship sibling, such as the Dimensity 9000 SoC to drive a 1.5K/120Hz OLED display, but with non-Corning Asahi Glass for protection.
Now, its successor is believed to approach the sub-premium tier of the market in another way, with a display of basically the same specs, but perhaps with the new LTPO 4.0 technology and even Gorilla Glass Victus 2 of the 12R (or Ace 3 for the Chinese market) – albeit powered not even by an ex-MediaTek flagship chipset this time, but by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 from Qualcomm instead.
Then again, initial rumors of its existence seem composed of not much more than supposition based on the fact that its alleged predecessor was released in the first quarter of 2023 with the same display as the 11R, which is in itself a rebrand of the Ace 2.
The new “3V” leak continues in this vein by asserting that it will have the same 5,500mAh/100W wired charging battery as the current Ace-series flagship. On the other hand, it is also said to have a frame made of plastic rather than aluminum.
Accordingly, should the smartphone resurface as a Nord 3 replacement for the global market later in 2024, it might do so with the same apparently lower-end chipset.
Then again, Qualcomm has taken steps to boost performance in this tier over the last few generations, thereby possibly ensuring that this “Nord 4” (or “Nord 5“) might still be able to boast of providing all a user’s most vital needs on a budget.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
