Oppo has unveiled its latest camera flagship, the Oppo Find X7 Ultra. As a true successor to one of the top-rated smartphones in DXOMARK’s list, the Find X6 Pro, it sets a new standard in mobile photography. It’s the first smartphone to come with two periscope telephoto sensors and Sony’s new LYT-900 sensor. The phone also brings many other upgrades over its predecessor.
After days of teasing, Oppo has finally unveiled its latest camera smartphone. Called the Oppo Find X7 Ultra, the device packs two periscope telephoto cameras on the back, which is a first for the industry. It’s also the first smartphone with the Sony LYT-900 1-inch sensor as the primary camera.
At the launch event, Oppo said the new 50 MP Sony LYT-900 sensor brings 11 times better dynamic range. It also claimed the camera offers a 25 percent improvement in photosensitivity. As the company didn’t clarify which sensor it’s comparing the sensor performance to, you can assume it’s the Oppo Find X6 Pro’s primary camera.
Besides that, the Oppo Find X7 Ultra sports the new Sony LYT-600 as its ultra-wide-angle camera. It’s also a 50 MP sensor featuring full-pixel phase focusing and f/2.0 aperture, allowing the phone to capture objects as close as 4 cm.
Moving towards the periscope cameras, one of them is a Sony IMX890, an “ultra light-sensing” 50 MP sensor with OIS. It can offer 3x zoom. The second one is a 6x Sony IMX858 sensor with OIS. Oppo says that the quad-camera setup of the Find X7 Ultra delivers smooth zoom from 14 mm to 270 mm without any noticeable image quality degradation.
Also, like some of the company’s past releases, the new smartphone has Hasselblad tuning. With this partnership, Oppo brings what it calls the HyperTone engine. It promises a natural look to all the captured images without compromising the quality. As for the selfie camera, the front has a 32 MP f/2.4 sensor.
The chipset under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Oppo paired this flagship SoC with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. On the front, the Find X7 Ultra has a 120 Hz 6.82-inch OLED screen with a QHD resolution. It has a peak brightness of 4500 nits and supports ProXDR.
Other highlights of the Oppo Find X7 Ultra include a 5000 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, an IP68 rating, Android 14 with ColorOS 14 on top, Bluetooth 5.4, and support for aptX HD and LHDC. The phone comes with a two-tone design and is available in three color options: Tailored Black, Sepia Brown, and Ocean Blue.
Pricing-wise, the 12/256 GB base variant is CNY5999 (around $840), while the most expensive 16/512 GB variant is CNY6999 (around $980). At the current stage, the Find X7 Ultra is only available in China.
