Xiaomi Malaysia has introduced the Redmi 12, a value for money entry-level phone that features a big 6.79-inch FHD+ DotDisplay screen that refreshes at 90Hz, it is powered by a Mediatek Helio G88 chipset mated to storage variants of 4GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB.
Unlike similar class phones that uses a plastic back, the Redmi 12 uses a premium glass back design and comes in color options of Midnight Black, Sky Blue and Polar Silver, the phone’s body is also IP53 dust and splash resistant, making this one robust device. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, an IR blaster that lets you control home appliances, a side mounted fingerprint reader and a powerful loudspeaker.
The Redmi 12 comes with triple cameras that comprises a 50-megapixel f/1.8 main, 8-megapixel ultrawide and 2-megapixel macro cameras, the former two cameras are capable of capturing 1080p videos at 30 fps, the front facing camera takes 8-megapixel stills and is also capable of recording 1080p videos at 30 fps.
Juicing up the Redmi 12 is a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging over a USB-C port, which easily offers up to two days of battery life on a single charge, Xiaomi is claiming over 23 days of stand by time, 133 hours of music playback, 26 hours of online reading and 16 hours of video watching.
The Redmi 12 will be available starting 15 July at authorized Xiaomi stores, Lazada and Shopee, the 4GB+128GB variant will retail for RM599 and the 8GB+256GB variant will retail for RM699. For early birds, the 4GB+128GB variant of the Redmi 12 can be purchased at a special price of RM499 on 15 July onwards while stocks last.
