According to the latest rumors, the Apple iPhone 16 will receive numerous design adjustments. In addition to the brand-new camera trigger and action button, customers can also expect an adapted camera module that could be optimized for spatial video.

According to the latest information from MacRumors Apple is currently testing several variants of the iPhone 16, all of which differ only in minor details. The front is said to look confusingly similar to the iPhone 15, while Apple is also expected to install the Action Button of the iPhone 15 Pro (approx. 1,200 euros on Amazon) in the cheaper basic model next year.

However, Apple has reportedly not yet decided whether the mechanical Action Button of the iPhone 15 Pro will be used or a touch-sensitive, significantly larger button that simulates haptic feedback through the Taptic Engine, similar to the Home Button of the iPhone SE (approx. 500 euros on Amazon). At the bottom of the right-hand side of the iPhone 16 is a new camera shutter button, as earlier rumors had already indicated. This touch-sensitive button is said to support “tact-switching” in addition to pressure sensors, although it is unclear what function is hidden behind this term.

The main new details are the colors and cameras. According to MacRumors sources, Apple is currently testing prototypes in black, pink, and yellow. The two cameras on the back are to be placed one below the other, either in a rectangular camera module like the iPhone 12 or in a pill-shaped module like the iPhone X. 9to5Mac speculates that this new camera placement is necessary to enable Spatial Video as is already the case with the iPhone 15 Pro, as two cameras placed next to each other are usually used to record 3D videos.
