Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra start receiving Android 14 with One UI 6 updates

Samsung has now started pushing One UI 6 to the Galaxy S22 series for its second major OS update. Until now, the company has focused on upgrading the Galaxy S23 series, excluding the recent Galaxy S23 FE. In short, Samsung has kept its ‘FE’ smartphones on different update cycles than their flagship siblings, despite being part of the same overarching series.

The arrival of Android 14 for Samsung’s older flagships comes only a few days after it pulled an extensive One UI 6 release schedule. As noted by SamMobile, the Galaxy S22 series’ update arrives as ‘DWK4’, although Samsung has not updated its support documentation to reflect this. However, the website notes that DWK4 has been made available to beta testers first, for whom the update is approximately a 300 MB download.

Additionally, it appears that Samsung is further restricting the update’s distribution to Europe for the time being. Thus, it could take a few weeks for DWK4 to reach all Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra (curr. US$589 on Amazon) units. Please see Samsung’s dedicated website for One UI 6’s new features, including an overhauled Quick panel and various camera refinements, among other improvements.
